been far to long

soooooo so much has happened since my last post. i never was able to touch base on the fantastic pleva wedding of june 4th. lydia and jordan along with charlotte and sylvie were absolutely perfect. the rehearsal was awesome, the wedding was awesome, the dance recital was awesome. we had a blast and i wish we were able to have something that fun planned every year.

after the wedding came our trip to las vegas. JJ and I flew in late and had a fantastic time spending it together, gambling, seeing shows and experiencing all the fun stuff people do in vegas. the pool was awesome, service sucked but fun none the less.

in july we spent a sweltering day at the waukee 4th of july parade, hot hot hot. spent a little time at Rob and Jenn's with family before we had to take off and find awesome seats for fire works, enjoyed by all. the rest of july is a blur of penny pinching. we went to the pool with Liz Gehrke & annie johannah a couple of times, lots of fun there!

so i have been contemplating what to do with the twins and sleeping arrangements. i got a wild hair this afternoon and decided to take down the cribs. it really started by trying to take down the drop sides to create daybed toddler beds. when one wouldnt convert because i was missing a few pieces, it just had to come down. oh well. it only took 2 hours (LOL!) to get them (mostly Sylvie) to stop screaming. we shall see how long it takes tomorrow night and i'm also excited to see how early they will wake up in the morning and more importantly where they are sleeping!

a little ketchup please!

we have been busy having fun here and there since my last post. after a pretty tumultuous morning, we headed to VWM for a few things today during a big thunderstorm. we were able to play inside which was great, then home for a nap that would never be.
lydia is mommy's helper in the kitchen now days, great with quesedillas and now mac-n-cheese. soon, she'll be making us dinner!! so we had hamburgers, mac-n-cheese and fruit salad (watermelon, strawberries and blueberries) everyone at the table is quiet munching, gobbling down their yummy dinner. next thing i know, i see sylvie dipping her blueberries into her ketchup meant for her burger....EWWW! nasty baby!! meanwhile, charlotte does the same with her watermelon...ugh!!
lydia got to try out her new running shoes during our post dinner walk, we played red light green light all the way to the bike trail bridge and each street we crossed lydia asked if we were going much farther, not sure how deep into nature we would get.

100 degrees: summer is here!

today is the first day after the big wedding of my dear cousin Amy Lynn Webb. we thought we'd have a week to relax but oh no! dance camp started today 9-12! JJ took lydia to camp, then the twins and I went to the gym and then the grocery store rounding out the morning by picking up lydia. we went home had a light lunch and down for naps! while the twins slept, lydia and i played tea party with water and little debbies. the twins woke up a bit late so we piled into the car and went to the valley view aquatic center. i wasnt sure how it might work but decided it's not a good idea. charlotte has no fear! yikes! that kid was loving it! sylvie was a little more apprehensive but once she got comfortable she was all about the slide! i was mostly nervous about keeping all 3 alive! charlotte and sylvie split up from me and lydia at one point so after 45 minutes, we called it quits. hit the dairy queen drive thru for 2 dilly bars, a choc/hot fudge sundae for lydia and an oreo blizzard for me (yum, my fav!) check that off our to-do list! i need to find 2 swimsuits with built in floaties!

Zoo Day Part 2

we checked out the dinosaur exhibit and made mom want to go back to chicago! left the zoo and headed to the mall where we shopped and played all thru naptime until i had 3 logs being sawed in the car on the way home. everyone was good and listened to directions pretty well. we had a blast!

Zoo Day Part 1

we woke up today and decided that since summer is here, we need to get started doing summer stuff asap! while daddy slept from working the night before we headed to the zoo!!! we saw that otters, rode the train and fed goats. we checked out the monkies and watched the giraffes.

breaking news!!!

we have 2 very important developments to report from this past week!! lydia lost her 2nd tooth and tied her shoes for the first time!

we are so unbelieveably proud of her! today is memorial day and we spent the morning playing at the park. after naptime, we swam in our pool in the backyard and went to dinner at jasons deli. yummy!! we played a few minutes more when we got home and then off to bed!

we have a loooooong list of fun stuff we want to do this summer so we will get started asap since the summer has officially started!!! yay!

rainy day imagination

so today is the first day after graduating with my masters (yay!) my friend Sam text me asking if i wanted to go to water aerobics with her this am. i was up for it no big deal. all was going great until i get there and realize we are going into the DEEP 13+ FEET water!!!!! panic attack!!!! anyway with my floatie belt i conquered it!
so off to the bank we went after the Y, then to Kohls. to my dismay they no longer have the "twin" shopping cart. devastation! it was a nightmare trying to keep one of the 2 little ones in line while i listened to lydia's: mommy this! mommy that! well much too much $$ later we were out of there. twins decided to fall asleep for nap after their usual 1:30 at 2:45 and by 3:30 had to wake them up so they will sleep at bedtime! ended up getting out the billibos to see what they might do and they were a real hit!

Just another day at the house. We are playing with toys, gathering collections and dressing up. Sylvie decided to try out the 2 different shoe thing. While trying to take this picture, Charlotte decided to blow raspberries, good one! Mommy is finishing up my FINAL paper for my masters, about the origin of the universe. Its certainly not light reading but its interesting to think through. after reading the book Room of Marvels for class I think I have sparked the interest of reading (gasp!) books!!! I hope to find the time to read 1 book per month over the summer so we shall see how this goes. I've been known to start one and never finish.

belly laughs

took lydia and jordan to dance tonight so shawn and hannah could look at a new place down the street. as we go thru mickey d's drive thru the girls start trying to make a laughing spongebob sound, the most annoying sound in the world. lydia asks jordan if she can make a witch laugh. i chime in as i've been eavesdropping the whole time with an awesome cackle. the girls laugh and say it was pretty awesome. we start talking and decide that for halloween this year charlotte and sylvie should be patrick and spongebob. me and daddy will be mr krabs and squidward, then lydia and jordan will be sandy cheeks and pearl and emerson will be gary. the girls are really adding to the conversation and were seriously funny to hear themselves laugh at eachother.

gave the twins a bath and afterwards changed the crib sheets. sylvie wanted in charlottes bed so we decided to play switch-a-roo tonight, they are in hog heaven. it's the little things!!

I finished my capstone project, hopefully a masters degree will follow! I have an extensive detailed list of what i want to do over the course of the summer. Much involves activites with the kids. Tonight at tball practice, lydia ran over to us to take off her jacket and as she ran back in, Sylvie in her tiny cherub like voice hollers at her: Good job leeah! good job! absolutely took me by suprise as I speak so much without thought and never think that they listen or retain what is said. A precious girl that one!

Twin Chatter

these two are talking more and more every moment it seems. they are currently dueling over whos sitting next to mom and who's "bot" is who's. Charlotte is finally calling Sylvie by her name instead of Charlotte, so atleast we know who is who, whew! i guess we are about to embark on the beginning of sisterly arguements, here we go...

Why did I start a blog?

I have basically no time in the day left over to scrapbook. I started thinking about how I wish they had "ready made" baby books for kids age 5 and up. Then I thought, there are so many fun things that happen every day that I think to myself, "I should write that down" and never do. Since I'm almost done with my masters I think that starting a daily or maybe weekly blog for our family, would be something we would cherish and serve as a digital scrap book. My chicken scratch leaves much to be desired and I dont always want every little thing posted on facebook so I will post it here and people can take it or leave it. So excited to get started! So here goes:

Today JJ and I took the girls and Jordan to lunch at Zmariks (a fav, only $30 for all 6 of us including desert!). I wanted to ask JJ a question as he was a bit ahead of us and so I yell hey babe, and charlotte called him babe for a bit which was so cute. Then as we ate, she called me Jess a few times. Cant quite decide how I feel about it. It's cute and wierd at the same time.
